The climate in Norway varies a great deal. Norway extends over 13 degrees latitude from Lindesnes to the North Cape, the same distance as from Lindesnes to the Mediterranean. There are also big differences in the amount of solar energy different areas get. The differences are greatest in Northern Norway, with midnight sun in summer and the polar night in winter. The topography also means that there are big local variations over short distances.
