A prosperoous society

While Norway was not among the wealthiest countries in Europe a century ago, it is now a rich country. Its national income per capita is among the highest in the world. Access to natural resources such as fish, hydroelectric power and oil contribute to this. In its modern history, however, Norway has succeeded in gaining control of resource development, ensuring that the resources are not used up too quickly and that it is not just the rich who benefit from the revenues they generate.
