Children's rights

Regardless of who the parents are and which of them the child lives with, children in Norway have strong legal protection based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Children's upbringing in Norway is largely relatively free and focused on the child as an individual and part of the family already from infancy. Boys and girls have the same rights and obligations, but traditional expectations still influence how they are seen and what choices they make to some extent.
