The Norwegian Public Roads Administration is a sector agency under the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Its main task is to develop and maintain a safe, environmentally friendly and efficient transport system.
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration is responsible for the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of the national and county roads network and for the supervision of motor vehicles and motorists. It drafts regulations and guidelines for road design, road traffic, driver training and motor vehicles. In addition, it is responsible for ferry operations on national roads.
